Announcement of Honor Roll recipients
Companies That Care Day, the third Thrusday in March. Honor Roll recipients will be confidentially notified approximately one week in advance in order to prepare their celebrations.

Time it takes to complete Honor Roll application
An average of 10-12 hours

Benefits of being recognized on the Companies That Care Honor Roll
Winners:

  • Announced to the national media by Center for Companies That Care
  • Listed on Companies That Care website in searchable format
  • Receive press release template for distribution to local media and artwork for "We Made It" poster recognizing company as Honor Roll recipient
  • Receive Honor Roll logo to display on their website and in all marketing materials
  • Invited to participate in exclusive listserv only for Honor Roll recipients
  • Invited to share best practices and/or mentor other companies who would like to become a Company That Cares
  • Invited to attend the Honor Roll Recognition Event

Number of winners
The number of organizations that can be named to the Honor Roll is unlimited. All companies that adhere to the 10 Characteristics of Companies That Care will be named to the Honor Roll.

Cost of applying
There is a $1,500 processing fee. For Community of Caring members, the processing fee is included as one of many Community of Caring benefits.

Review process
All applications are reviewed twice; once by a Center for Companies That Care staff member and a second time by a member of the Independent Review panel. A phone interview may also be scheduled.

Criteria for being named to the Honor Roll
All organizations that consistently practice the 10 Characteristics of Companies That Care will be named to the Honor Roll. The following are the 10 Characteristics.

Companies That Care...

  1. Sustain a work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees
  2. Make employees feel their jobs are important
  3. Cultivate the full potential of all employees
  4. Encourage individual pursuit of work/life balance
  5. Enable the well-being of individuals and their families through compensation, benefits, policies and practices
  6. Develop great leaders, at all levels, who excel at managing people as well as results
  7. Appreciate and recognize the contributions of people who work there
  8. Establish and communicate standards for ethical behavior and integrity
  9. Get involved in community endeavors and/or public policy
  10. Consider the human toll when making business decisions

Runners up?
Yes. Companies that do not make the Honor Roll but are clearly on the path and working diligently toward that goal will receive an Honorable Mention. Companies receiving an Honorable Mention will also be listed on the Companies That Care website.

Who is the Center for Companies That Care?
The Center for Companies That Care (Companies That Care) is a national, not-for-profit (501(c)3) organization founded to enhance the well-being of employees and communities. We will fulfill our mission by encouraging, celebrating, and educating businesses that prize their employees and are committed to on-going community service.

Besides the Honor Roll, what else does Center for Companies That Care do?
Companies That Care Community of Caring: Provides a learning community of like-minded organizations for collaborative community-building initiatives, best practices, and networking.

Companies That Care Exchange: Brings companies together to share learn, best practice ideas and develop collaborative programs to benefit communities and employees.

Companies That Care Day: Celebrated annually the third Thursday of March, employers focus on the 10 Characteristics and expand initiatives strengthening communities and employees.
