Companies That Care Announces Fourth Honor Roll of Businesses Helping Employees and Communities Thrive

CHICAGO (MARCH 16, 2006) — The Center for Companies That Care has named 27 companies to its Honor Roll, announced Marci Koblenz, co-founder and president of the organization.
Honor Roll recipients are selected for their deep commitment to elevating the quality of the work environment for their employees and the quality of life for people in the broader community as well as adhering to the 10 characteristics inherent to a "Company That Cares."
Those named to the 2006 list feature national and local companies in diverse industries including: AAA Mid-Atlantic; Baxter Credit Union; CHAN Healthcare Auditors; Convergint Technologies LLC; Crowe Chizek and Company LLC; Delnor-Community Health System; General Growth Properties, Inc.; Grand View Hospital; Grant Thornton LLP; HDR Design-Build, Inc.; KPMG LLP; Lake Forest Graduate School of Management; Levy Restaurants; Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital; McKinley Associates, Inc.; Office Depot, Inc.; Ohio Savings Bank; Opto Technology, Inc.; PJM Interconnection; Rauland-Borg Corporation; Sage Products, Inc.; TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc.; The Care of Trees; The Supply Room Companies; Triangle Printers Inc.; University HealthSystem Consortium; Virginia Commonwealth University Health System.
The Honor Roll is selected by an independent panel of veteran professionals in a variety of industries. Each of the organizations named to the Honor Roll sustains a work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees, develops great leaders, communicates standards of ethics and integrity and participates in initiatives that support the community, among other outstanding attributes.
"Being named to the Honor Roll is quite an accomplishment because it requires a true commitment to employees and communities and detailed proof that a company adheres to all 10 Characteristics of caring companies. Given our rigorous evaluation process, we are truly excited to announce that the number of companies named to the Honor Roll increased by 60% this year. We applaud this year's recipients, and are very pleased that a growing number of companies are interested in making their employees and communities a business priority," says Koblenz.
This Honor Roll is announced annually on the third Thursday each March in concert with Companies That Care Day. This year, Companies That Care Day will kick off Spring Back to Life, a month-long national initiative that focuses on the children affected by Hurricane Katrina and replacing athletic and recreation equipment lost by Mississippi schools devastated by the hurricane.
