Dear ,
Center for Companies That Care is thrilled to announce our 2009 Companies That Care Honor Roll.
We are truly inspired by these exemplary organizations that have demonstrated
their commitment to helping employees, families, and communities thrive,
especially in these turbulent times. Each Honor Roll employer adheres to
the 10 Characteristics that describe a "Company That Cares."
This year, we have been particularly impressed by the Honor Roll's growing
sense of social responsibility in the workplace and communities. Hundreds of
charitable organizations benefit from volunteerism and financial donations
provided by these community service-oriented companies. Many of the employers have enhanced their
wellness and health assessment programs for employees as well as initiatives to
promote inclusion for all and opportunities to grow professionally. Minimizing
negative impact to our environment is another growing trend. Check out 2009 Best Practices of Companies That Care if you want to learn more.
Selected by a panel of seasoned professionals, our Honor
Roll lists 37 organizations from 15 states. Nearly 210,000 employees work for
Honor Roll organizations. For the first
time in the history of our Honor Roll, all first-time applicants are
receiving this recognition. We are
excited about our May 18-19 Community Symposium, Creative Caring in Tough Times, which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia and will highlight many of the
best practices demonstrated by our Honor Roll.
We imagine there are many more Honor Roll worthy employers who have yet to be discovered. Perhaps you work for one? Tell us who these great employers are by sending an Honor Roll Nomination e-mail to cynthiacobb@companies-that-care.org. Our Honor Roll committee will reach out to them for the 2010 Honor Roll.

The Honor Roll is announced annually on the third Thursday of March in
conjunction with the annual launch of CAREDAYS, a month-long, national
initiative to engage individuals and employers in activities addressing a
significant societal issue in our communities. This year, CAREDAYS09: Terrific Tales, supports childhood literacy by ensuring that
under-resourced classroom libraries have books for children to read. Individuals and organizations are encouraged
to either donate books or raise funds that will be used to purchase books for
1000 classrooms over the next two years. |
| Congratulations again
to all the Honor Roll organizations that are actively engaged in
strengthening their local communities and providing a work environment
that sustains individuals and families, personally and professionally.
We salute you all!
Best regards,
Marci Koblenz President and Co-Founder, Center for Companies That Care email: marcikoblenz@companies-that-care.org phone: 312-661-1010 web: http://www.companies-that-care.org
