| Honor Roll Companies in the
News! |

Companies That Care extends congratulations to Honor Roll
companies Convergint Technologies
LLC and Levy Restaurants for
recent recognition in the press.
Convergint
Technologies, whose president and founder Greg
Lernihan has served as a Companies That Care board
member, was listed as the #1 fastest growing company in
Chicago by Crain's
Chicago Business:
Greg's only disappointment is that the article
didn't reflect the premise on which he and his partner
founded Convergint---their commitment to being a company
that cares.
Levy
Restaurants is featured in Smart Business, which
sites their CEO, Andy Lansing, as fostering a
culture where nice employees guarantee that Levy
Restaurants finishes first.
In the attached article, Andy talks about culture,
training and commitment to people as keys to Levy
Restaurants success:
Congratuations, again, to these members of our
Honor Roll who demonstrate the link between being a
company that cares and business
success. |
| Companies That Care Launches
Exciting Education Initiative |
|
| This fall, Center for Companies
That Care will begin matching corporate mentors
with students from Urban Prep Charter Academy for
Young Men, in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, and
Woodlawn High School, in Chicago's Woodlawn
neighborhood. The goal of the initiative is to help
ensure that disadvantaged high school students graduate
from high school, and get TO, and THROUGH,
college.
We need both mentors (companies that can commit to
adopting a student for a four-year period) and sponsors
(companies that can make a $5,000 commitment to sponsor
a student).
This program has been met with great enthusiasm by
educators, administrators and students. It fills a
necessary gap in the students' educational process and
helps us all to train the workforce of the future.
