		Upcoming Events Here is a list of events and opportunities we invite you to put on your calendar. You can click on each item to register on-line for these events. July 11, 12- 1pm CDT: It's Your Life! Webinar Topic: Volunteerism and Life-Long Learning Join us for a discussion of Volunteerism in the Workplace and Life-Long Learning. We will be joined by "people like us" who are committed to merging business and community and exploring opportunities for learning. July 25, 12- 1pm CDT: It's Your Life! Webinar Topic: Fitness and Nutrition Hear real-life inspirational stories from people who have changed their lives through fitness and nutrition. NOTE: You have the option of participating in person or on the phone for the It's Your Life! Webinars. You will be asked your preference when you register. In person will be at: GCG Financial in Bannockburn, Illinois. Please plan to arrive by 11:30 to get settled. Phone number and address will be provided when you receive your registration confirmation. September 4: 12-1pm CDT Virtual Book Club *Health at 100: The Scientifically Proven Secrets of the World's Healthiest and Longest-Lived Peoples* by John Robbins We will be joined by the author, John Robbins, for this discussion. Note: You must be either a member of the Community of Caring or an Honor Roll company to participate in the Virtual Book Club. Find out more about the Community of Caring. Honor Roll Webinars Interested in applying for the Honor but wondering what's involved? Join us from 2-3pm CDT to learn about the application and selection process: June 12 July 31 August 28 September 9 Deadline for the 2008 Honor Roll first-year applicant is November 15, 2007. Honor Roll Webinar for Current Honor Roll Companies Already on the Honor Roll and want to understand what you need to do this fall/winter to be on 2008's list? Join us from 2-3 CDT to learn about the subsequent year application and selection process: October 2 Deadline for the 2008 Honor Roll subsequent-year applicant is December 1, 2007. 		Honor Roll Companies Participate in Poverty Simulation as Introduction to Companies That Care's Education Initiative During our Honor Roll Recognition Event, May 21 and 22nd, over 60 representatives from Honor Roll companies participated in a Poverty Simulation as an introduction to Companies That Care's Education Initiative, which we are launching this fall. One month of living below the poverty line was condensed into one hour of action. Thanks to over 20 volunteers who helped simulate community institutions ranging from employers, to schools, to the bank and food market, participants lived the lives of those trying to balance paying for food or paying the electricity bill; sending a sick kid to school or missing work. The simulation brought home the challenges many of our employees face and fostered a lively discussion of the impact of corporate policies on people's lives. Following the simulation, we kicked off a new, and very exciting initiative Companies That Care has developed in conjunction with educators. 		Community of Caring We encourage you to join the Community of Caring. Becoming a member of the Community of Caring not only entitles you to many benefits, but, more importantly, by becoming a member you declare your interest in, and commitment to, making our world a better place to live. The investment is minimal, your vote for caring will be HUGE! Please join our Honor Roll Companies as members of the Community. Community of Caring Benefits Participate in collaborative community building initiatives with other members Attend Companies That Care educational programs (Road Shows, Bi-Annual Symposium, Stepping Stones Seminars, etc.) for a discounted registration fee Participate in mentoring programs for a discount Select topics for and attend 1st Monday virtual lunch 'n learns -- free Participate in the Virtual Book Club -- free Purchase tools (surveys, starter kits, etc.) at a discount Receive advance notice of all educational and community building programs with limited participation Submit nominations (including self-nominations) for Companies That Care committees and Board of Directors Receive a CARE pin and a Community of Caring seal for your website and collateral materials Participate in the Community of Caring listserv and consult/collaborate with other Community of Caring members

We have needs for volunteers who like to write, plan events, think strategically, foster collaboration among companies, do outreach....whatever your talents are, we can find a use for them.
